This year at the Beijing Olympics, results will be posted immediately, via the internet. Thanks to new technology, more people around the world will be able to experience the games than ever before.

Instead of waiting for traditional bulletins via the TV, viewers will be able to go online and watch live feed, or even receive up to the minute texts on their mobile phones.

This is all made possible through new Olympic broadcasting rights that have been snapped up by news giants such as the U.S.'s NBC, Hong Kong's i-Cable, Japan's NHK, and China's CCTV.

The websites offering access will be free to users and texts will only have traditional charges.

Experts are predicting changes such as this are going to cause major changes in people's viewing habits and how news is obtained on a daily basis, and an event just as the Olympics has the potential to act as a catalyst, moving people away from the television.
